I read a lot of business books. I used to read around 100 books a year before I had kids. The vast majority of books have 2 or 3 good takeaways and then you are done.

However, I recently read a book that has overhauled how I live out my day, which has caused my productivity to literally triple.

The Book: The 12 Week Year

If you don’t feel like reading this article just know that this book is filled with actionable tactics for you to accomplish your long-term vision AND your short-term goals.

That’s what I liked most about the book — it’s not just superfluous business talk — it’s actionable advice that you can implement immediately.

Before reading this book, I would set annual goals — like most people.

However, the problem with annual goals is that it’s too long of time period — which let’s you make excuses for yourself. I would accomplish most of my goals, but usually in the first quarter or the fourth quarter.

I effectively (and subconsciously) took the second and third quarters off.

Having this realization I obviously asked myself — How much could I accomplish when I set my own time-frames, without the artificial time frame of a yearly goal?

I highly encourage you to buy the book. If you don’t have time to read it, get the audiobook:

The 12 Week Year

“If you are not in control of your time, then you are not in control of your results.”
